Nebraska Advocacy Services, Inc. (NAS), The Center for Disability Rights, Law and Advocacy, receives financial support from a variety of funding sources. Following is a list of our major sources of funding for FY 2007 (October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007):
- Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PADD)
Federally funded program to protect and advocate for the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities. FY 2007 Federal Grant Award: $365,940.
- Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI)
Federally funded program to protect and advocate for the rights of people with mental illness and investigate reports of abuse and neglect in facilities that care for or treat individuals with mental illness. FY 2007 Federal Grant Award: $402,700.
- Protection and Advocacy of Individual Rights (PAIR)
Federally funded program to protect and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities who would not be eligible for the PADD or PAIMI programs. FY 2007 Federal Grant Award: $160,311.
- Protection and Advocacy of Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS)
Federally funded program to provide advocacy and assistance to any beneficiary of Social Security who is trying to secure or regain employment and to otherwise protect their rights under the law. FY 2007 Grant Award: $100,000.
- Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology (PAAT)
Federally funded program to provide individual and systems advocacy to secure assistive technology devices and services for people with disabilities. FY 2007 Grant Award: $50,000.
- Protection and Advocacy for Traumatic Brain Injury (PATBI)
Federally funded program to provide advocacy assistance to people who experience a traumatic brain injury. FY 2007 Grant Award: $50,000.
- Protection and Advocacy for Voting Access (PAVA)
Federally funded program to establish, expand, and improve access to and participation in the election process by people with disabilities. FY 2007 Grant Award: $70,000.
- State of Nebraska (State)
State and federal funds are integrated to carry out a broad range of other advocacy approaches to promote empowerment of people with disabilities within Nebraska. FY 2007 Contract Award: $364,750 ($220,000 earmarked to pass through NAS to provide direct funding of locally operated and controlled Citizen Advocacy offices.)
